This is a critical role within our New Zealand team, where you will be responsible for managing projects through to financial close or construction completion.You will play a pivotal role in driving the development strategy and executing across all parts of the project development and delivery lifecycle.
This includes managing project development programmes and budgets, engaging and managing technical and commercial advisors, and ensuring projects are optimised, and delivered from the development pipeline for construction.
The position also includes responsibility for managing due diligence processes and supporting key commercial activities such as EPC and O&M procurement and financing.This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team and make a direct contribution to New Zealand's transition to a low-carbon energy future.Position ResponsibilitiesProject Development and StrategySupport general solar farm and BESS development activities from site feasibility through to pre-construction.Support the Planning Director as required on Resource Consent applications, approval processes, and consent complianceCollaborate with the broader team to optimise project layouts, yield, and technical solutions.Contribute to internal investment proposals and project development strategy.Responsibility for internal project management processes and systems, and managing project programs across the pipeline.Responsibility for documentation management, including updating and management of datarooms.Supporting the Finance Team with managing project costs and budgets.Technical Management and Due DiligenceSupport the procurement, appointment, and performance of technical advisors, including, Technical Due Diligence advisors, Engineering consultants, and Independent Certifiers.Oversee the preparation and review of technical reports and engineering deliverables required for project financing and contracting.Ensure timely resolution of technical queries and risks during development and financing.Support the debt raising process by managing technical inputs into the financing process.Prepare and manage due diligence workstreams in collaboration with financial, legal, commercial, and technical teams.EPC & O&M ProcurementSupport the tendering process for EPC and O&M contractors.Coordinate technical and commercial bid evaluation and contract negotiations.Manage the drafting of technical scopes (Employers Requirements and Minimum Functional Specifications) and contract schedules, in conjunction with external advisors, where applicable.Support the transition from preferred bidder through to contract execution and early works mobilisation.Assist with early works scopes and early works management.Stakeholder Engagement and Project ReportingManage tendering processes for site studies and investigations as required, including the preparation of tender documents, tender evaluations, recommendations and contractor management.Coordinate with landowners, councils, technical consultants, and regulatory authorities throughout development.Present project updates to internal leadership and external stakeholders.Maintain clear, organised records and reporting across development activities and decision points.Actively manage risks and opportunities across the development portfolio.Qualification and ExperienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field.5+ years of experience in renewable energy development, with at least 2 years leading utility-scale solar PV projects.Demonstrated ability to manage full project development lifecycle including technical, planning, and financial aspects.Strong understanding of solar PV system design, grid connections, and New Zealand consenting frameworks is an advantage.Proven track record managing technical advisors and due diligence workstreams for bankable projects.Familiarity with EPC / O&M contracting and negotiation processes.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for commercial stakeholders.Strong project management and organisational skills.A collaborative mindset and ability to work across diverse teams and stakeholders.Flexibility to travel to project sites and meetings as required.NO RECRUITERS PLEASEApply for jobHarmony Energy New Zealand,Level 10 The Shortland Centre,Tower 2,55 Shortland Street,Auckland"
