Overview
We’re a professional services company seeking a Company Accountant to join our team and take ownership of our full financial function.
As our Company Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of the business. You’ll be responsible for all aspects of AP, AR, financial reporting, tax compliance, payroll, & general ledger management.
Key Responsibilities
- Full preparation and posting of financial documents and journal entries.
- Manage the general ledger and ensure all accounts are accurate and reconciled.
- Prepare and analyse Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and monthly financial reports.
- Complete and lodge all GST, PAYE and other tax obligations on time.
- Process monthly payroll for all staff.
- Process accounts payable & accounts receivable, including following up overdue debts.
- Prepare annual budgets, monthly forecasts including cashflow forecasting.
- Assist with finance for procurement services on behalf of clients (FF&E etc).
- Prepare annual Tōitu Net Carbon Zero reports ready for audit.
- Contribute to the Senior Leadership Team and work closely with managers to provide insights for decision making.
- File annual returns and provide financial analysis for board directors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
Skills and Experience
A minimum of 5 years’ New Zealand experience in a similar accounting role.Solid knowledge of NZ tax legislation, accounting principles, and payroll compliance.Proven experience preparing P&L, balance sheets, and tax returns.Attention to detail and accuracy, dependability and excellent organisational skills.High proficiency in accounting software (Xero), knowledge of Projectworks would be an advantage.Ability to work independently and to strict deadlines.Strong communication skills with the ability to train financial concepts to non-financial staff.Further information

This is a full-time role reporting directly to our Managing Director. While the position is based in our Britomart office, flexible or hybrid working arrangements may be considered by agreement.
