Busy financial advice company in Hobsonville is looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team.The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of the Business Development team to ensure effective generation, conversion, and management of new business opportunities.
The role will balance strategic oversight (team direction, performance management, planning) with individual contribution (personal sales activity, relationship building, deal closure).
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and support a team of Business Development Managers to achieve individual and team targets.
Develop and implement team performance frameworks, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms.
Provide ongoing mentorship, training, and development to build capability within the team.
Facilitate weekly pipeline meetings and quarterly strategy sessions.
Foster collaboration with other teams to ensure a seamless client experience.
Help develop and execute the annual business development strategy in line with company growth objectives.
Identify key markets, client segments, and partnership opportunities.
Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and target setting for the BD function.
Continuously evaluate market trends and adjust strategies accordingly.
Provide input into marketing and lead generation initiatives to ensure strategic alignment.
Personally manage a defined prospect portfolio.
Help drive end-to-end business activity including prospecting, relationship management.
Represent the business at client meetings, industry events, and networking forums.
Maintain accurate CRM records and ensure data integrity across the team.
Work cross-functionally with Marketing to refine messaging and campaigns that support lead generation.
Coordinate with the Advice and Operations teams to ensure smooth client onboarding and service delivery.
Provide regular reporting and performance insights to senior leadership.
Act as the escalation point for complex client or sales issues within the BD team.
Responsible for operational decisions relating to team management, client prioritization, and business development processes.
Contributes to strategic planning and growth decisions in consultation with the Head of Growth / Managing Director.
Results-oriented with the ability to balance strategic thinking and tactical delivery.
Collaborative, adaptable, and confident in representing the business externally.
Qualifications / Essential Skills required :
Proven leadership capability and experience managing a small sales or BD team.
Strong strategic and commercial acumen.
Excellent relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills.
This is an office based role so proven experience in phone based relationship building skills is essential.

Region : Auckland
40 Hours a week, Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
Must be able to work evenings and weekends if required
$80,000 p / a + production bonus
This can often be a stressful position and is not for the faint hearted.
