We're looking for a hands-on, organised Venue Operations Coordinator to support the day-to-day running of McLean Park and the Centennial Events Centre.
You'll play a key role in ensuring facilities are well presented, safe, and welcoming — supporting both community sport and large-scale events that put Napier on the map.
The role combines operational coordination, customer service, and event support, offering variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to be part of Napier's vibrant city culture.Flexibility for weekend and after-hours work is essential because great events don't always happen 9 to 5.ResponsibilitiesOversee the maintenance and presentation of McLean Park facilities, ensuring a safe, high-quality experience for all users.Support the smooth delivery of community sport usage of the Centennial Events Centre.Manage event operations, including venue set-ups, inductions, and health & safety compliance for hirers and contractors.Contribute to initiatives that maximise the use of the venue and enhance the experience for both community groups and major events.Provide responsive, professional customer service, building positive relationships with hirers, contractors, and the public.About YouA minimum of 3 years' experience in sports grounds, venue operations, events, or competition management.A full, clean driver's licence and the physical fitness to carry out practical tasks.Strong initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays when events require it.A forklift licenceA Level 5 qualification in Sports, Recreation, or Event Management are both highly desirable but not essential.What we Offer5 weeks annual leave after 2 years serviceDiscounted Health Insurance Work Scheme + Eye Test SubsidyRetailer Discounts + Study assistanceEmployee Assistance Program (OCP)Quarterly values awards + Birthday vouchers + Social clubFree flu vaccinations (annual)Ka Awatea Cultural Wananga + NCC Kapa HakaTe Reo Maori language classesThis is a full-time, permanent position working 40 hours per week.
