The Role
We are currently seeking a highly experienced HSEQ professional to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, with an immediate start option available.
This is an opportunity to use your deep industry knowledge to champion safety and compliance across our Nationwide business.
The role reports directly to the Chief People and Safety Officer (CPSO) and is supported by an HSEQ Advisor and Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities
As HSEQ Manager, you will provide hands-on leadership and direct involvement in HSEQ activities, ensuring the practical implementation & monitoring of standards, and promote a culture of continuous improvement & operations excellence in a fast-paced, multi-site operation.
Your responsibilities will include :
Lead national HSEQ initiative, programmes and the integrated management system (IMS) across multiple operations sites
Conduct regular audits (site & desktop), inspections, and safety meetings
Develop and deliver engaging training programmes and manage external training requirements
Provide practical and high-quality HSEQ advice and expert guidance on legislation, compliance, and reporting.
Support the business with any HSEQ tender requirements and client prequalification requirements.
Lead and conduct investigations into incidents, near misses, and hazards and ensure swift, thorough incident response
Maintain a strong presence across sites, engage with teams directly and guide / mentor managers & supervisors on HSEQ processes and procedures, ensuring participation, compliance and high standards of safety across all projects.
Ensure all related HSEQ policies, procedures, and the HSEQ IMS are effective, compliant and continuously improved.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 5 years' HSEQ related experience with at least 2 years in a senior or management-level safety role, in the construction, trade or related industries.
Current and comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand's H&S and environmental legislation, compliance, and industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices in New Zealand.
Relevant NZQA qualification in workplace health and safety or related field.
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
Exceptional ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Experience and knowledge of ISO IMS (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
NZISM and HASANZ membership will be an advantage.
A thorough understanding of and commitment to the administrative aspects of the role, as well as being tech savvy.
Full Class 1 Driver Licence required.
