Through international solidarity and collaborative projects, UnionAID supports partners to build their capacity, advocate for labour rights, secure decent work and fair pay, ensure safe working conditions, promote equality, and engage in democratic processes.The OpportunityWe're seeking an experienced Executive Officer to lead our team of staff and volunteers in carrying out UnionAID's international development and fundraising work.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you'll ensure UnionAID operates effectively and professionally whilst maintaining high standards of governance, financial management, and stakeholder engagement.This is a 12-month fixed-term position as UnionAID renews its contract with the the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Manatu Aorere (MFAT) for our Young Leaders Programmes.
The future structure of the organisation will depend on the outcome of these negotiations.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership and report to the Board of TrusteesLead and support the Director Young Leaders Programmes, staff, and volunteersOversee financial management and budgetingWork with the Communications and Operations Manager on fundraising campaignsDevelop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including NZ unions, NZCTU, CID, and overseas partnersSupport international partners in developing strong project proposalsEnsure organisational compliance with all legal requirementsAbout YouYou'll bring : Experience managing staff and providing leadership to both paid staff and volunteersExperience managing an organisation, preferably within the union movementPractical administration experience and financial reporting oversightExcellent communication, interpersonal, and organising skillsAn innovative approach to fundraisingProven ability to manage a diverse workload and competing demandsInclusive leadership that supports Te Tiriti-aligned practiceHigh level of cultural competenceA tertiary qualification is desirable.Our ValuesWe're guided by our values of Kotahitanga (collective action), Manaakitanga (respect and dignity), Tika (fairness and justice), and Toitu te mahi (sustainability).
