About the role
Our fantastic Executive Director, Kay Booth, is stepping down after four exceptional years in the role, and we are looking for someone to continue the great mahi she has been leading.
We have been in a period of growth, and we would like to continue to grow the size, impact, and influence of Hapai Public.
We want a senior leader with a flair for business development, innovation and a passion for excellence in public sector management to join our small but capable team.
You will engage with a wide range of public professionals, thought leaders and experts across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to meet our strategic goals.
You will be responsible for and deliver :
Programme and content design for our events and communications
Member engagement and benefits
Business development to support our revenue streams
Relationship management across the sector, with our commercial partners and our experienced Board.
Hapai Public | Institute of Public Professionals is Aotearoa's independent national body for public servants (we like to say 'public professionals').
We are a not-for-profit organisation.

Our members work across the public sector, as well as in related private and not-for-profit organisations.
We have over 16,000 individuals on our database with whom we communicate regularly.
About 5,000 people attend Hapai Public seminars and training events each year.
About you
It is likely that you will have had a career as a senior public servant in Aotearoa New Zealand or worked alongside the public sector in a senior role, such as for an NGO.
You will have networks at senior levels across the public service and be a politically astute thought leader with a track record of influencing others.You will be confident at bringing your ideas and influence to our Board.
You may be wanting to come back into the workforce in a part-time capacity having had some time off, or you may be wanting to step down from full-time work so you have the flexibility to pursue other interests in addition to this role.
