Key Responsibilities :

Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese-style meals, including stir-fry, rice, noodle, and soup-based dishes, following company standards.

Supervise and assist kitchen staff in preparing ingredients and ensuring dish consistency.

Operate commercial kitchen equipment such as woks, fryers, steamers, and preparation tools safely and efficiently.

Maintain food safety standards and hygiene regulations in accordance with New Zealand's food handling requirements.

Monitor kitchen inventory and notify the manager when supplies need replenishing.

Collaborate with the team to ensure timely food preparation during peak hours.

Skills & Experience Required :

Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen or takeaway setting.

A New Zealand Level 4 Certificate in Cookery (or equivalent) can substitute for work experience.

Solid understanding of food safety practices (e.g., proper food storage, cleanliness, avoiding cross-contamination).

Ability to follow standardised recipes with attention to detail.

Physically fit, able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.

Strong communication skills and a collaborative team attitude.
