We are expanding our kitchen team to meet growing customer demand and are looking for experienced Cooks to join our busy, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a wide range of Chinese –style dishes including BBQ meats (roast duck, char siu, crispy pork), noodles, rice meals, soups, and stir-fried dishes according to the restaurant's recipes and standards.
Operate commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, woks, fryers, steamers, and BBQ roasters safely and efficiently.
Maintain consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation standards.
Supervise and support junior kitchen staff to ensure efficiency during peak service hours.
Ensure food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards are strictly followed as per New Zealand Food Control regulations.
Monitor stock levels, assist in ordering ingredients, and ensure proper storage and rotation of supplies.
Collaborate with the front-of-house team to coordinate service and handle special orders or customer requests efficiently.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum 2 years of experience working in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a Chinese or Asian restaurant.
Strong understanding of Cantonese –style cooking techniques (BBQ roasting, stir-frying, soup preparation, and sauce making).
Knowledge of New Zealand Food Safety and hygiene standards.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Good communication, time management, and multitasking skills.
