Our busy restaurant is looking for one full-time cook to assist our chef You'll be responsible for :
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes (such as tempura, ramen, teriyaki, and miso soup) following traditional recipes and presentation standards.
Ensure the freshness, quality, and proper storage of ingredients such as seafood, rice, vegetables, and other Japanese pantry items.
Prepare rice, sauces, broths, and garnishes used in Japanese dishes.
Prepare and cook other Japanese items like grilled meats, noodle dishes, pickles, and side dishes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen, ensuring everything is stocked and sanitary.
Ensure proper food handling, storage, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely preparation of dishes.
Assist in the creation and updating of the restaurant’s menu, suggesting new dishes and recipes.
Provide training and guidance to junior kitchen staff on proper sushi and Japanese culinary techniques.
Maintain and ensure inventory control, including ordering and stocking of ingredients needed for Japanese cuisine preparation.
Handle special dietary needs or requests from customers, ensuring they are accommodated appropriately.

Pay rate : $31.61 per hour
Days required : 5 days / week (must be available on Saturday)
Hours per week : at least 30, maximum 55 hours / week
About You
Qualification is not required. MUST have at least tone year of relevant work experience.
Extensive knowledge of Japanese ingredients, preparation techniques, and presentation.
Experience with other Japanese dishes like ramen, udon, tempura, and yakitori is highly preferred.
Excellent knife skills, including experience with filleting fish and preparing sashimi.
Understanding of food safety, sanitation standards, and proper handling of raw fish and seafood.
Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and cleanliness.
Ability to communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure a smooth operation.
