Job descriptionAn undergraduate degree underway in Resource and Environmental Planning or a related field. An appreciation for Māori values, te reo, and tikanga Māori. High energy and a readiness to make a positive impact in the community. An interest in local government and community development. Paid summer work placement. Opportunity to gain practical experience in local government. Supportive team environment. Exposure to diverse projects and learning from experienced leaders. Access to Council facilities and resources. Networking opportunities within Rotorua Lakes Council. Hands-on experience in housing, growth, and economic development projects. Mentorship and guidance from experienced team members and leaders. Opportunities to learn about Council processes and bicultural collaboration. Experience gained may support future roles in local government, resource and environmental planning, or economic development. Opportunity to build professional networks and references for future career advancement.
Support Rotorua Lakes Council’s Housing, Growth & Partnerships team in enabling housing delivery and economic development during a summer work placement.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include :
- Contributing to the Housing, Growth & Partnerships team, which plays a key role in Rotorua’s sustainable growth and development.
- Enabling housing delivery and strengthening the local economy.
- Working alongside developers to navigate Council processes.
- Exploring opportunities within Council land holdings.
- Leading or supporting research, planning, and design of economic development strategies.
- Gaining hands-on experience and contributing to various and diverse projects.
- Working within a supportive team and learning from experienced leaders.
