Job description

Support the Parks & Open Spaces team at Rotorua Lakes Council in managing parks, reserves, and recreation assets, contributing to community wellbeing.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include :

  • Assisting the Parks & Open Spaces team in managing Council’s network of parks and reserves.
  • Supporting the maintenance and enhancement of assets to provide opportunities for play, active recreation, and sport.
  • Contributing to the protection of cultural, ecological, and heritage values within parks and reserves.
  • Assisting with recreation management in significant areas such as the Whakarewarewa Forest through partnerships with Iwi.
  • Helping locals and visitors enjoy recreational opportunities in and around Rotorua.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team dedicated to delivering positive outcomes for the city and community.

  • Interest in and passion for the recreation, environmental, or physical activity industry.
  • Appreciation for Māori values, te reo, and tikanga Māori.
  • Willingness to collaborate with Te Arawa, the local iwi.
