About the

Role

We have a permanent full-time opportunity within our Waitaha

Canterbury team for a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Contact Tracer (Sexual

Health).

The primary purpose of the Contract Tracing Nurse role is to lead HIV,

syphilis and other sexually transmitted infectious diseases contact tracing

efforts in collaboration with the clinical team.

This involves but is not

limited to, initial set up of this service, reporting of actions and outcomes, proactive

outreach, clinical follow-up, and strong relationship-building with primary

care providers, community services, and regional partners.

This role will cover the top half of Te

Waipounamu from Ashburton to Picton and will partner with our Southern

colleague.

Our Sexual Health Service team is part

of the Hospital and Specialist Services at Christchurch Hospital, within Health

New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, and work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all)

by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing

on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

About You

As a successful candidate, you will show

and understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are skilled in

applying its principles effectively in your role.

are able to utilise advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective

• Commitment to

working respectfully with Maori, Pacific, and other diverse communities, with

an understanding of culturally appropriate engagement and whanau-centred care.

• Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
• A current RN Practicing Certificate with the Nursing Council of

New Zealand

• A current full driver's license.
• Authorised vaccinator (or willingness to complete)
• Advanced communication techniques such as conflict resolution,

diffusion, and mediation skills

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, whanau, and

healthcare providers.

• Demonstrate professional accountability within scope of practice.
• Demonstrate a genuine interest in working in the community.
