  • Hillmorton Hospital, Christchurch
  • Fixed term, part-time 0.4FTE position covering parental leave until 8th August 2026
  • Must have scope to work in Mental Health

  • About the role
  • Our specialist Mental Health Services' permanent pool is looking for a Registered Nurse to cover a fixed term parental leave position until August 2026.
  • Primarily based at Hillmorton Hospital, you will be providing cover acrossinpatient services; including acute adult admitting units, high / complex needsservices, intellectual disabilities, forensics, specialty services, Mothers andBabies, Eating Disorders, Alcohol and Drug, and child and youth services.

  • About You
  • Thisposition requires a background in mental health, working as a RegisteredNurse Nurse, and the ability to work both autonomously, andalongside the multidisciplinary teams you will be working with.
  • The opportunityto cover in a variety of different settings across Specialist Mental HealthServices, means :

  • We are looking for Registered nurses with excellent communication and time management skills who can work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team.

  • You will need to be confident, resilient and have the ability to build strong and successful relationships, with the patients and their families / whanau as we have a strong emphasis of re-engagement into the community.
  • Skills and experience
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope;
  • Previous Mental Health scope and experience is preferred;
  • Nurses with the right skills and attitude who do not have mental health experience but have mental health scope, would be considered on a case by case basis;
  • Excellent communication and time management skills;
  • Confident and resilient;
  • Strong focus on relationship-building;
  • Knowledge of and a commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
