Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei is a hapū of Ngāti Whātua. We live in and around the Tāmaki isthmus. We hold to our mana motuhake, our history, our culture, our identity, and our reo. Our whakapapa traces to Tuperiri and the hapū Ngā Oho, Te Taoū, and Te Uringutu.

We are tangata whenua in Tāmaki. Our authority over land and sea rests on take tupuna, take raupatu, ahi kā, and tuku whenua.

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust looks after the collective affairs of our hapū. We have more than 8,000 registered members across Aotearoa and overseas. Ōrākei Marae is our cultural hub.

Te Kahu Tōpuni o Tuperiri describes the protective reach of our ancestor across our rohe.

Purpose of the role

We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Security Manager to lead our approach to keeping people and places safe. This role ensures that systems, training, and kaitiaki practices are connected and effective, so that kaimahi and whānau feel secure and supported across all sites.

The role provides strategic advice and leadership across health, safety, and emergency management, ensuring Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei meets legislative obligations, responds effectively to risks and incidents, and builds a strong culture of safety and wellbeing.

Ngā tino pūkenga / whēako | Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Tertiary qualification in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) or related field.
• Proven experience in health, safety, and security management.
• Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, emergency planning, and risk management.
• Experience developing and implementing organisational HSE frameworks and policies.
• Skilled in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
• Demonstrated ability to provide expert advice and build capability across an organisation.
• Proven ability to lead teams and drive performance.
• Strong communication and cultural competency.
