Northern New Zealand (NNZ) Regional Sales Manager – Lead, Drive, Deliver.
Location : Auckland-based with some travel required in Northland.
We are seeking a commercially minded, results-driven sales leader to guide and develop our sales team toward high performance and growth across Ideal's northern region.
As the NNZ Regional Sales Manager, you will report directly to the NNZ Regional Manager, with a dotted line to the General Manager of Sales.
In this role, you will lead a team of 8 Sales Representatives, providing clear direction, driving disciplined sales excellence, and managing margins effectively.
You will support your team in strengthening existing customer relationships, establishing new customers, and driving overall business growth, while also directly managing key strategic customers in the region.
In addition, you will oversee the region's projects and estimation team, driving accurate and timely quotations that ensure a profitable return for the business.
About the Role
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer accounts, including regular travel for in-person meetings to ensure exceptional service delivery.
Coach and mentor your sales team on a daily basis, acting as the point person to effectively resolve any escalated sales-related issues.
Plan activities, set goals, manage performance, and foster positive customer relationships with the sales team.
Work with the GM of Sales and the NNZ Regional Manager to develop and execute sales strategies aligned with Ideal and regional priorities.
Drive focus on growing sales and gross margin through acquiring new customers and expanding share of wallet with existing customers.
Champion a culture of performance and accountability by providing your team with clear direction, achievable goals, and ongoing support.
Embed sales excellence processes in the Sales teams through standardized processes, tools, and KPIs to ensure consistency and efficiency across the region.
Drive sales discipline and high performance by fostering an environment of ownership, focus, and continuous improvement.
Identify key commercial growth opportunities in the NNZ market to grow the overall regional business.
Manage the NNZ projects and estimation team to ensure effective and efficient estimating across the region.
Collaborate with the sales team, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to improve win rates, profitability, and delivery of all project work.
What You'll Bring
Minimum 10 years of experience in a sales leadership role, ideally in wholesale, trade, and distribution environments.
Proven track record of driving commercial results, developing sales teams, and building long-term customer relationships.
Excellent interpersonal relationship management and negotiation skills.
Experience working in a multi-site or branch-based business model.
Ability to manage and strengthen capability in the sales team.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders / teams towards shared goals.
