Mo te tunga | About the role

The Gang Harm Insights Centre are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Intelligence Supervisor responsible for leading a team made up of Intelligence and Insights practitioners from a range of government agencies.

You will be responsible for leading the team to deliver on its purpose; understanding the harm being caused by, to, and within our New Zealand Adult Gang community to enable the identification of prevention and intervention opportunities.

This role also carries a portfolio for supporting the intelligence capability of New Zealand Police's National Gang Unit.

The successful candidate will need experience in managing demands across multiple workstreams and supporting operational activities to influence the prevention and disruption of gang-related crime, disorder, and intimidation, and to hold offenders to account.

The Gang Harm Insights Centre is a multi-agency team, hosted by New Zealand Police.

The Gang Harm Insights Centre sits in the Fusion Centre, alongside the National Drug Intelligence Bureau, and Transnational Organised Crime FC.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Provide day to day leadership and direction of the team.
  • Engage positively with internal and external stakeholders, agencies and community groups.
  • Manage priorities, competing demands and implement strategies to mitigate service delivery risk.
  • Plan, coordinate and deploy resources to maximise effectiveness.
  • Maintain a positive team culture, which celebrates diversity and inclusiveness.

  • Previous experience in engaging with community groups, and gang whanau would be advantageous Previous supervisory experience (ideally within the field of Intelligence)
  • Knowledge and experience of best practice intelligence processes.
  • Experience with supporting a team in high pressure environments whilst delivering high quality outputs.

  • Current CPK at the rank of the vacancy you are applying for (Constabulary only).
  • For both Constabulary & Police Employees :
  • Agree to enrol in a leadership programme at the advertised level, at a future date or
  • Have qualified under CEP or a previous Career Progression Framework at the level you are applying for.
  • This role is based in the Wellington area.
  • This role is Team Leader level.

    Security Clearance

    To be eligible for this role, you must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance.

    The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is :

    NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or :

  • A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
  • A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years : Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

    Utu a-tau | Salary

    This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $110,425.00 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
