About The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
Te Tari o te Pirimia me te Rūnanga Kāwanatanga – The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) supports the government of the day by leading, advising, stewarding and delivering activities across the public sector, and by providing dedicated advice and support to the Governor-General, Prime Minister and portfolio Ministers.
About this role
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi – The National Assessments Bureau (NAB) is part of New Zealand's intelligence community and the National Security and Resilience group in DPMC, providing independent, all-source assessments to inform government decision-making on national security and foreign policy.
Specific roles available
We are looking to appoint a small number of candidates at different levels. The role levels will take into account work experience, existing specialist knowledge and capacity to quickly transfer skills, as well as to cover the range of organisational needs.

Experience or study in disciplines aligned to the National Security Intelligence Priorities is desirable but not essential – this includes Asia, the Pacific, or geo-economics. Cultural competency and language skills related to Asia and the Pacific are of high value.
Some life and work experience that shows your ability to connect and cooperate with others, such as community service, would be desirable, but is not essential.
Security Requirements
Ngā Whakaritenga Haumarutanga – To be eligible you must be a New Zealand citizen for at least 10 years or hold a NZ Permanent Resident class visa. Alternatively, you must have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia with a 15-year checkable background.
