• We’re seeking for a
• Quarry Operator
• to join us at our Blackwell Quarry based on
• Great Barrier Island
• , Auckland, New Zealand.
• The ideal candidate will live on Great Barrier Island or be willing to relocate permanently, embracing the island lifestyle and close-knit community.
• In addition to the above you will :
• Operate quarry plant and equipment to load, transport, stockpile materials
• Carry out routine checks, maintenance and cleaning of machinery and equipment
• Assist with site preparation, drilling, blasting and crushing activities as required
• Keep an eye out of material quality and provide feedback to management
• Record production data and maintain accurate logs - training will be provided
• Speak clearly and respectfully with team members, contractors and site visitors
• Having a strong focus on health and safety is essential in this role to ensure all work is done safely and meets our Fulton Hogan safety values."
• We are looking for someone with :
• Hold a NZ Class 4 drivers’ licence with truck driving experience is ideal
• Must hold a WTR Endorsement with experience operating Loaders, Excavator and Class 4 Trucks.
• Previous experience operating heavy plant in a quarry, construction, or mining environment is preferred
• Physically fit and able to undertake manual and outdoor work in varying weather
• Able to work mainly Monday to Friday, including additional hours; weekends when / as required

• Blackwell Quarry
• located on Great Barrier Island (Aotea), Auckland, New Zealand. Operated in recent years by Fulton Hogan, the quarry is crucial for providing aggregate and construction materials needed for island infrastructure such as roads and other essential projects. Given the island’s remote setting and limited local resources, Blackwell Quarry plays an important role in supporting the tight-knit Aotea community with reliable access to quality building materials. The site’s operation is carefully managed to align with environmental standards and community expectations, with ongoing oversight by Auckland Council and the local Great Barrier Local Board. The quarry is well-known locally, and its activities are closely connected to the island’s development and connectivity.
