New Zealand Panels Group is a leading manufacturer and distributor of decorative interior panel products used by the joinery industry. We also supply high pressure laminates, porcelain and engineered stone benchtop materials along with a range of substrates and stainless-steel products. Specified by New Zealand's top architects and designers, our products can be found in projects built by the country's leading residential and commercial builders.
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Accountant to assist operational management in decision making in relation to margins, labour utilization in the factory and inventory through financial analysis and reports that highlight key issues involved. You will assist the CFO and Financial Controller in key end of month processes, year end audit and budgets and / or forecasts, and work with the CFO in key projects as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Gross margin analysis, ensuring margins are clearly understood and explainable to key stakeholders, and understand the impact of volume, cost and price changes on margins.
- Inventory management (including standard costs) to ensure accurate inventory cost with minimum material variances.
- Labour utilization - work with operational managers on weekly labour utilization and efficiency and promote better utilization, develop reports and analyses as necessary.
- Material & other miscellaneous gross margin variances - work with operational and financial management in mitigating or reducing variances.
- Special projects - work with operational managers on projects such as make / buy decisions, factory shutdowns, costing of export orders
- Audit, budget and month end close - support both audit & budget processes and prepare month end journal relating to inventory, labour or COGS to ensure an efficient close.
Qualifications
A tertiary qualification in an accounting disciplineChartered Accountant or CPA membership (or nearing completion)5 years or more financial experience preferably in a manufacturing environmentProven ability to analyse & interpret complex information, identify issues, provide solutions and summarise numeric & financial data effectivelyAccuracy and a strong focus on attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAdvanced Microsoft Office skills particularly working with Excel spreadsheetsPrevious use of Microsoft Dynamics preferredPower BI / Navision experience preferredBenefits
