They have two divisions : Workplace Safety, which partners with clients to design and implement safety solutions that protect people, control traffic, and preserve assets in workplaces; and Roading & Infrastructure, which collaborates with civil contractors and councils to provide innovative traffic safety solutions for the safe and efficient delivery of roading and infrastructure projects.About this RoleReporting directly to the CEO, this role sits at the centre of Sales, Operations, and Suppliers, managing supplier relationships, purchasing, and inventory health.
This is not a back-office role, this is a seat at the table directly impacting Vanguard's ability to deliver on promises.
A key part of your role will be proactive communication with Sales, ensuring order and shipment changes are shared immediately so customer expectations remain aligned.We require an exceptional communicator and collaborator who will stay finely tuned to customer needs and sales priorities, whilst protecting margin and cashflow.You will be responsible for securing the right products, at the right cost, in the right quantity, and at the right time – ensuring Vanguard has the stock needed to meet customer commitments while protecting margin and cashflow.You will be accountable for procurement and inventory at scale, managing stock values of $5M+ across multiple warehouses in New Zealand and Australia.Essential Skills and Expertise RequiredProven experience managing procurement across multiple suppliers, warehouses, and currenciesExperience managing both local and international suppliersAbility to analyse data and demand trends to align inventory with customer requirementsProven experience managing procurement and inventory at a scale of $5M+ stock valuesMinimum of 3+ years in a procurement or purchasing role with full responsibility for supplier relationships, pricing and lead timesDemonstrated accuracy with landed costs and inventory valuation in ERP systemsHands-on experience using ERP and planning tools to manage inventory health and replenishmentDemonstrated ability to negotiate supplier terms with proactive pricing reviewsStrong negotiation skills with local and overseas suppliers.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to partner effectively internally and externallySuccess will be measured by : Stock availability consistently above 95% fill rateProactive communication to sales on all PO / SO date changes within 12 hours to keep customers assignedInventory Managed within 110 – 130 days, balancing availability with cashflowSupplier lead times consistently greater than 95% reliablyAt Vanguard, you will be part of a company that is growing, ambitious, and values-driven.
