The
System Transformation Team
works to improve capability through the tools, systems and processes the Treasury uses for running the public finance system.
Our interdisciplinary projects bring together data, IT, performance, policy and capability building.
We work closely with others across the organisation, in particular our Vote, Budget, Fiscal Reporting and IT teams.
In this role you will contribute to projects that transform Treasury's data management and reporting capabilities to deliver improvements for the public finance system, as well as design and deliver tools to lift the digital enablement of teams.
The type of work you will typically do includes :
design and development of data visualisation and analytics tools
contributing to improvements in Treasury's broader data and digital enablement work
supporting other teams to use data to deliver advice to Ministers and Senior Officials
undertaking data analysis to support advice
lifting organisational data capability through contributing to the development and delivery of training, guidance and tools.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to work effectively within a team and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
You will also have previous data and reporting experience, preferably in the New Zealand public sector context, and be able to improve how people can use and access data to provide evidence-based advice.
An understanding of finance and / or New Zealand's public finance system is also desirable.
Specific technical expertise you will bring includes :
data manipulation, analysis and visualisation
well-developed numerical literacy, critical thinking, logic, and analytical skills
experience with data visualisation software (e.g. PowerBI or Tableau), and working knowledge of the Microsoft suite (e.g. Excel, SharePoint, Forms and Power Automate)
familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g. Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake) and common programming languages for data (e.g. DAX, M, Python, R, SQL)
strong written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate issues and concepts clearly, succinctly and with influence.

Appointing salary for this role will be between $90,353 and $106,298 per annum.
This is based on skills and experience and is inclusive of KiwiSaver.
