Te Puni Kokiri leads policy advice to the Government on Maori development, and Iwi and Maori relations with the Crown.

To do this effectively we must position ourselves to elevate our monitoring and mentoring responsibilities and emphasise our role in holding other agencies to account for delivery of public services to, for and with Maori.We are looking for a Policy Analysts to join our Whanau Ora Policy Team,based in National office, Wellington.Based in Poneke Wellington, our Policy Puni leads across the public sector to understand and prioritise issues, needs and opportunities impacting on Maori development and wellbeing.Te whai wahitanga | The opportunityThe Whanau Ora Policy Team focuses on developing policy and policy advice on social issues relating to whanau and hapu, and supporting enablers of whanau resilience, wellbeing and mana motuhake through the promotion of whanau-centred policy approaches and indigenous whanau ora practice, across government and in the community.Te Puni Kokiri believes that there is opportunity to leverage the proven success of the Whanau Ora model to deliver further success for New Zealanders with distinct needs.

A key kaupapa for the team is to deliver against Te Puni Kokiri's strategic intention to see the public sector more widely adopt the Whanau Ora commissioning model.The team works with a wide range of agencies across a range of kaupapa, including Whanau Ora, health, education and other areas of social policy, and the Crown response to the Abuse in Care Inquiry.As a Policy Analyst you will.Provide credible, evidence-based advice anchored in the context of iwi, hapu, whanau and Maori as it applies to the aims of the Whanau Ora Policy teamConduct thorough and detailed analysis of complex policy issues to understand their implications and identify potential solutionsWork collaboratively with peers at Te Puni Kokiri and with social agencies.Apply and advise on te ao Maori and Te Tiriti based frameworks as they relate to policyContribute to robust team discussion and promote a culture of continuous feedback.The appointable range for this role is between $76,213 (90%) to $84,680 (100%) per annum and the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.The full range of the grade is $76,213 - $101,616 (120%)with a mid-point of $84,680As an aspiring policy professional, you will have experience in a government policy shop and / or and understanding of te ao Maori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi frameworks as they apply to policy.You will : have the mix ofknowledge, skills, practices, and behavioursrequired by a modern policy practitioner to be able to deliver quality policy advicehave a desire to continually learn and grow your policy skillsethave the conceptual and analytical skills to provide solutions to ambiguous or complex problems.have highly developed communication skills, in particular written communication.
