We’re looking for a Senior Operational Policy Analyst to join our Regulatory Services team at Te Tari Taiwhenua, the Department of Internal Affairs. This role is about turning policy and legislation into practical, fit‑for‑purpose tools that help our frontline teams do their work well. You’ll lead the design and delivery of operating models, procedures, standards, and guidance that support our regulatory systems – including anti‑money laundering, gambling, anti‑spam, and censorship. You’ll bring strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, and a clear understanding of how operational policy connects to real‑world outcomes. You’ll also help shape business improvements and support change across the Directorate.

Qualifications

• Has experience in regulatory or operational policy work
• Can translate complex legislation into clear, usable processes
• Is confident leading projects and supporting others
• Understands the importance of working in partnership with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• Communicates clearly and builds strong relationships across teams and sectors
