DoubleTree by Hilton Auckland Karaka is a premium hotel located next to the New Zealand Bloodstock Sales Centre, 25 minutes from Auckland Airport. With 122 guest rooms, an outdoor pool, gardens, and two signature dining venues — Ethereal Restaurant and Horseshoe Bar — we offer a refined experience in Karaka’s landscape. We are seeking an Executive Chef to inspire, innovate, and elevate our food offering to new heights.
An Executive Chef manages and leads the culinary operation to ensure it runs smoothly and meets Hilton standards.
What will I be doing?
- Oversee culinary operations in all restaurant kitchens, including Pastry, Main Kitchen, and stewarding operations.
- Plan, prepare and implement high-quality food and beverage products and set-ups in all areas and in the restaurants.
- Work with recipes, standards and plating guides.
- Maintain all HACCP aspects within the hotel operation.
- Participate in quality initiatives such as daily Chef briefings and monthly team meetings to improve culinary operations, meet targets, and maintain open communication.
- Be knowledgeable of hotel occupancy, events, forecasts and achievements.
- Review and / or prepare rosters ensuring high business productivity and guest satisfaction.
- Monitor food quality and quantity to ensure economical use of ingredients.
- Advise on new menus and seasonal concept changes.
- Ensure all team members understand and adhere to the hotel’s team member rules and regulations.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What are we looking for?
Proven experience as an Executive or Head Chef in a premium hospitality settingProven experience in banqueting across a variety of cuisines5 years as Head of Kitchen in a 4 / 5-star category hotel or high-standard restaurantsAt least 8 years of experience as a Main ChefPassion for culinary innovation and guest experienceStrong leadership and communication skillsExpertise in cost control and kitchen managementRelevant culinary qualifications and food safety certificationsA degree in cooking is advantageousWhy Join Us?
