Full-time, permanent role based in Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park.ResponsibilitiesVisitor Centre duties : provide information on backcountry tramping, weather, track conditions, transport options, and safety; share up-to-date information about recreational opportunities and conservation projects; manage bookings for huts and campsites; ensure the visitor centre is tidy and presentable; manage administration including banking reconciliation, data entry, invoicing, and retail stock control.Facilities / Heritage & Visitor duties : cleaning and maintenance of campground / shelters (including toilets and bathrooms); engage with visitors and assist with queries; campsite compliance checks and payments; purchasing of facility and safety / risk items; track control and monitoring during closures.Weekend, public holiday, and Duty Officer shifts are required.Skills and experienceExperience / demonstrated competence in customer service, computer skills, sales, and retailConfidence in delivering clear and positive safety messagingAbility to deliver in a timely manner and maintain accuracy while handling conflicting demandsProblem solving, initiative, and a positive can-do attitudeCompetent computer skills and ability to learn new systemsEnthusiasm for outdoor pursuits and conservationAvailability to work weekends and holidaysA current driver's licenceDesirableExperience with facilities maintenanceUnderstanding of recreation and tourism opportunities in Aoraki / Mount Cook and the wider Eastern South Island RegionAbout the teamThe Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through biodiversity, recreation / historic, community engagement and visitor centre teams.
We are a small, well-knit team living and working in Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park.
