He oranga taiao, he oranga tangata.Mo te turanga | About the roleThis role plays a key part in assisting a range of essential operational services, including : Waste collection, including recycling and food wasteProcessing and preparation of solid waste for transportEnsuring the Material Resource Facility (MRF) is kept to a high standardComplete waste management related purchasing and invoicingLearn village water and wastewater systemsUndertake duty officer responsibilities for Local Body operationsSupporting the maintenance of infrastructure, plant, roads, and footpath networksParticipating in the road snow clearing programme as requiredEquipment maintenance & preventative maintenance checksParticipating in rural fire training, response and other emergency responses to meet the department's obligationsWeekend, public holiday, and Duty Officer shifts are required for this role.Role Description available.Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experienceIf you have the following skills and attributes, including the ability to work across multiple trades, we are keen to hear from you : Full New Zealand drivers' licence - Class 2 (essential)Experience in heavy vehicle operations including Forklift, Wheels, Tracks, Roller endorsementsMechanical aptitude and willingness to work across all tradesKnowledge and commitment to health and safetyAbility to work with a high level of autonomy whilst able to work as part of a teamYou must have good computer literacy skills, written and oral communication skillsProven experience dealing with customers in a professional mannerWillingness to work on rostered weekendsDesirable : Experience in maintaining small plant, equipment, and / or roadsFamiliar with water reticulation and pumping systemsRural fire experience and / or willingness to joinInterest and / or experience in emergency servicesCurrent First Aid certificateMo te tima | About the teamAs a Local Body team member working in Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park, you will be part of a small team who maintain infrastructure and provide services to the remote alpine village.

These services include building maintenance, potable water, wastewater, roading and snow clearing, landscaping, rural fire, solid waste (rubbish), and flood protection.Me aha nga painga mou?
