You will build relationships quickly and become a trusted advisor.You will have solid experience practicing law in government, in particular supporting good decision-making.
Relevant experience in private practice is also valued.
You will have strong technical skills in legal analysis and statutory interpretation, and you will have a well-developed 'risk-radar'.
You will value opportunities to extend yourself and be comfortable applying your technical expertise in new contexts within a supportive and collaborative environment.Even if you don't have experience that covers all aspects of the role, we know the right person can learn these things on the job.This role will give you a unique insight into the role of the Commission and the chance to be at the heart of our public management system.

The scope and nature of our work will equip you well for future opportunities in both the public and private sector.To give you a flavour of the role, recent work of our Senior Solicitor has included being the lead legal advisor for the Public Service Amendment Bill, managing the Commission's response to an urgent Waitangi Tribunal inquiry and supporting the Commission's Inquiry into the Protection of Personal Information, among a range of other work.There is no prescribed PQE for the role, however, experience in the range of 6-8 years plus PQE is likely to be required to perform at the level required.The Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders.

### RemunerationThe full range for the band is $107,146 - $143,313.
We typically look to appoint to role between $107,146 - $130,507 depending on skills and experience.
