Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Specialist to join our team of APC Technical Solutions experts at NZ Safety Blackwoods. Our Technical Solutions division represents multiple key industry names for instrumentation, gas detection, hose & fittings and flow control. Join us!

You will play a pivotal role in achieving our sales and margin targets in the Lower North Island (New Plymouth to Wellington), with monthly travel of 3–4 days required. Your primary objective will be to drive continuous growth and ensure the seamless supply of our technical solutions, products, and services. Prior experience in the industrial and / or hydraulic hose segment would be preferable but not essential for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and margin growth in the Lower North Island (New Plymouth to Wellington) region, while effectively managing the process.
  • Collaborate with broader teams, offering technical support and participating in joint calls as needed.
  • Coach and mentor non-technical teams to enhance lead generation efforts.
  • Formulate action plans to boost revenue and achieve targets, implementing them with precision.
  • Undertake special projects focused on target industries, markets, and customers, demonstrating exceptional project leadership.
  • Lead the way in RFP and contract negotiations, ensuring favourable outcomes for the company.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and provide training to customers, effectively communicating the value of our products and services.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies and safety protocols in all work conducted.
  • Identify customer needs and offer customized solutions tailored to their requirements.
  • Monitor the sales pipeline, manage CRM and proactively track opportunities for maximum efficiency.
  • Embrace a growth mindset, constantly seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.

About You

  • Minimum of five years of relevant industry experience (Technical product sales or Account management and preferably experience in gas detection, hose & fittings and flow control).
  • Demonstrated expertise in consultative sales and effective negotiation techniques.
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining business relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Proficient in time management and adept problem-solving.
  • Highly organised professional with a strong commitment to work ethic.
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field - engineering / electrical (preferred).
