We're looking for a Kaitohutohu Matua | Senior Strategic Advisor to join our high‑performing Strategy and Performance Function from early January 2026. This position is permanent, full‑time and based in our central Wellington office.
About the role
As the Senior Strategic Advisor, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategy and corporate policy, while providing advice on issues of strategic significance to the Council and Executive Leadership team. A key part of the role involves leading the development of organisational strategy, ensuring alignment with relevant regional and internal strategies, as well as driving the organisation’s wider strategic system to ensure the organisational strategy is effectively implemented, monitored and reviewed.
You will also be responsible for the management and delivery of strategic projects from time to time.
Day‑to‑day collaboration with the Principal Strategic Advisor and the Advisor Strategy and Performance is central to delivering the outputs of the Strategy Business Unit along with supporting the Head of Strategy and Performance and Group Manager Strategy with research, preparation of advice when required.

The remuneration for this position, inclusive of all benefits, is $110,081 to $165,122, with a midpoint of $137,601. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
