About the Role
Are you passionate about leading high-performing engineering teams and driving technical excellence at scale?
We're looking for a strategic and inspiring Manager – Digital Engineering in our retail technology business to elevate our technical and engineering capabilities across Digital Sales & Services platforms.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of Technical Leads, while influencing a wider community of engineers across multiple squads.
Establish and uphold engineering standards, ensuring architectural consistency and technical quality across platforms.
Define and execute technical strategy that supports brand autonomy and enables faster, decoupled releases and improve speed to value.
Champion engineering culture through Dev Guilds, capability uplift, and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
Influence the tech platform roadmap, aligning engineering initiatives with business goals and modern delivery practices.
Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver scalable, maintainable, and customer-centric digital solutions.
Our Tech Ecosystem
Frontend : React, Tailwind, Storybook
Backend : NestJS, AWS (Lambda, Microservices)
Tooling : NewRelic, Playwright, GitHub Copilot, Nx, RsPack
This is a full time permanent opportunity based in major locations of Australia and New Zealand.
About You
The successful candidate will have :
Proven experience leading engineering teams in complex, multi-brand digital environments.
Strong technical foundation in modern web technologies and cloud-native architectures.
Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into actionable roadmaps.
Passion for mentoring and uplifting engineering capability.
Experience with platform thinking, federated delivery models, and enabling autonomy at scale.
Strong stakeholder management skills and can deal with ambiguity.
