The opportunity :

We are looking for an experienced and driven Tax Manager to join our people, employment and mobility tax team.

This role is ideal for a tax professional with deep expertise in New Zealand employment taxes, and a passion for delivering strategic advice in a dynamic consulting or Big 4 environment.

Day to day you will :

Lead and manage client engagements across all employment tax related matters.

Oversee the preparation and review of tax compliance for high-net-worth individuals and expatriate employees including tax returns, tax briefings, payroll and advising on tax residence implications.

Advise on taxation of employee benefits, employee share schemes, fringe benefit tax and cross-border employment implications for employers and employees.

Provide strategic tax advice on remuneration planning, mobility, and workforce structuring.

Support clients with their tax governance framework with payroll and fringe benefit tax compliance reviews.

Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.

Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.

Stay abreast of legislative changes and proactively inform clients of impacts and opportunities.

What you will bring to the team :

Relevant tertiary qualification (Accounting / Law)

At least 5 years' experience in employment tax within a consulting or accounting firm in New Zealand.

Strong technical knowledge of New Zealand tax legislation.

Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Client-focused with a collaborative mindset.
