HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER

This New Zealand–owned construction firm who delivers large-scale industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects nationwide. They are known for reliability, strong client partnerships, and high-quality outcomes.

Role

This role is working on a large complex legacy project in Christchurch. 65% of the role is onsite for this project the rest of the time is on South Island projects. This is a hands on role not being behind the desk.

• Implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures
• Ensuring compliance with workplace legislation and industry regulations
• Identifying hazards, assessing risks, and putting in place control measures
• Meeting minutes, toolbox talks, SoPs, SSSP and drug / alcohol testing
• Health and Safety audits
• Reporting to the Project Director

Requirements

• Several years experience within H&S
• A strong background in complex vertical projects is a must
• Ideally having worked in a tier 1 or 2 construction company
• NZ experience is a must
• A qualification in Health & Safety
• Proven background in risk management, compliance, and safety systems implementation
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence staff and contractors
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Confidence in conducting audits, investigations, and training sessions.
