About The Team
The Safety and Assurance Group is responsible for enterprise-wide safety, assurance, and corporate improvement initiatives.
This includes activity across operational and organisational safety, security, audit and assurance, business improvement, safety reporting and analysis, investigations, and governance of the Safety Management System.
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing team provides governance, systems, and organisational visibility of health, safety and wellbeing.
Operating at Line 2 of the three lines of defence model, the team designs and maintains the frameworks that enable consistent risk management, monitors and reports on organisational performance, and partners with leaders to strengthen accountability and drive a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture.
About The Role
We have a permanent full-time opportunity for a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor at our Christchurch based campus in Burnside.
Reporting to the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager you'll provide specialist advice, oversight, and monitoring of health, safety and wellbeing practices across the organisation.
In this role you'll partner with leaders across Airways to ensure they are supported with robust policies, frameworks, and guidance, while independently monitoring compliance, risk management, and the effectiveness of controls to strengthen organisational health, safety and wellbeing performance.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional occupational health, safety and wellbeing advice, support, training and coaching to managers, employees and contractors.
Act as first point of call for queries and escalations, including supporting health and wellness change management initiatives.
Provide advice and services including undertaking assurance activities towards ensuing compliance related all legislative requirements under the Health & Safety at Work Act.
In addition to relevant reporting, ensure that reporting, policies and guidelines are in place and regularly reviewed.
Manage workplace participation, representation and engagement programs.
Manage Airways Total Health programme and future strategy in line with Airways vision.
Take ownership of supplier agreements, ensuring its current and financially prudent.
Contribute to process improvement activities, particularly those relating to occupational health, safety and wellbeing.
About You
Due to the nature of the role and our operations, you\'ll be comfortable working in a complex, regulated environment.
You will also hold exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders.
Additionally, You Will Have
At least three years' experience in health, safety and wellbeing, with demonstrated capability in applying legislation, developing or implementing frameworks, and providing advice in complex organisational settings.
Relevant tertiary qualification / courses in OHS or equivalent experience in a complex occupational health and safety environment.
Demonstrated understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act, ACC legislation and Health and Safety Codes of Practice.
Experience in fatigue management best practice, preferably in a roster environment.
Ability and willingness to perform the role in field (outdoor) conditions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Outlook, Excel, Team and SharePoint (document repository).
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.
A proactive attitude with a passion for safety and continuous improvement.
Beneficial
An understanding of and experience in health and safety support for overseas travellers, preferably with relationships with ISOS / travel insurance providers or similar.
Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Wellbeing in a safety critical environment.
