Job description

Senior Organisational Development Advisor

Are you passionate about shaping thriving workplaces where people feel valued, supported, and inspired to grow? Bring your strategic thinking, creativity, and a deep understanding of organisational development to everything you do.

At the Council, we're committed to creating a workplace that celebrates diversity, fosters wellbeing, and empowers kaimahi to make a difference for our communities. We believe in the power of culture, collaboration, and continuous learning—and we're looking for someone who shares that belief.

About the role

As a Senior Organisational Development Advisor, you'll be at the forefront of designing and delivering impactful OD initiatives that align with our strategic goals and values. You'll work closely with leaders, teams, and stakeholders across Council to co-create solutions that build capability, enhance engagement, and embed inclusive, culturally responsive practices. This is a role where your expertise in change management, learning design, and strategic OD will be valued—and where your ability to foster trusted relationships and influence outcomes will truly shine.

What You\'ll Be Doing

  • Leading the design and delivery of OD programmes that support workforce wellbeing and performance.
  • Embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and Te Ao Māori perspectives into OD practices.
  • Coaching leaders and teams to build capability and drive cultural alignment.
  • Facilitating engaging workshops and learning experiences across the organisation.
  • Using data and insights to evaluate impact and continuously improve our approach.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to co-design inclusive, human-centred solutions.

About you

What You\'ll Bring

  • A tertiary qualification in HRM, OD, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in senior-level OD, L&D, or HR advisory roles.
  • Expertise in change management, employee engagement, and capability building.
  • A collaborative mindset and strong facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with NZ employment legislation, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and tikanga Māori.
  • A passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and making a real difference.
  • What\'s in it for you?

This is your opportunity to contribute to a workplace that prioritises kaimahi ora—workforce wellbeing—and to be part of a team that cares about our city. You\'ll work in a supportive environment where your ideas are welcomed, your growth is encouraged, and your impact is felt.

Want to shape Christchurch? Here at the Council we know our strength comes from our people, working together as one team to create results. When you join us, you\'re getting involved first-hand and contributing to crafting the Christchurch community.
