Senior Advisor

Overview

Senior Advisor role (part-time) with the Ministry of Education New Zealand in Christchurch. The position is part-time, requiring between 24 and 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist support to schools, kura, suppliers and partners within the Canterbury region to ensure tamariki receive a nutritious lunch each school day.
• Support the Ka Ora, Ka Ako | Healthy School Lunches programme and related initiatives (e.g., ECE Food programme, Ikura | Manaakita te whare tangata, period products in schools).
• Have a proactive, hands-on approach with regular travel and engagement with schools in the wider Canterbury region.
• Work with a national team to support programmes and services that contribute to student wellbeing and education outcomes.
• Ensure suppliers comply with contractual standards and that schools and kura uphold their roles and responsibilities.
• Provide specialist advice to support programme development and outcomes, with strong relationship and contract management skills.

About the team and programme

The Ka Ora, Ka Ako | Healthy School Lunches programme delivers healthy school lunches to eligible schools and kura nationwide. The team supports ākonga engagement in learning and works with schools, kura, suppliers and partners to deliver inclusive education that meets ākonga and whānau needs.

Salary and terms

Salary range : $85,225 – $103,071 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. Appointment will reflect individual skills and experience. Salary is within the advertised range for this role.

Location and travel

Location : Christchurch, NZ. This is a role that requires regular travel within the Canterbury region.
