We're seeking a highly experienced Specialist Risk Oversight Manager to join AA Insurance's newly established second line Enterprise & Operational Risk team.
In this critical role, you will lead and shape risk oversight across a range of specialist areas, with a strong focus on business continuity planning, stress testing, and strategic risk analysis aligned to both local and international regulatory expectations.
To succeed in this role, you'll bring a strategic mindset, and a strong command of how emerging risks can impact an organisation's long-term resilience.
Your ability to scan the horizon across climate, natural hazards, geopolitical shifts, and financial market trends will help shape our view of external risk and keep us agile in a fast-changing environment.
Ideally, you've developed these skills in financial services or consulting, where anticipating risk and challenging assumptions is critical to informed decision-making.
You'll be at the forefront of shaping and embedding innovative strategic and emerging risk frameworks that ultimately drive our long-term planning and strengthen organisational resilience.
As part of a broader uplift of our enterprise risk capability, you'll be joining us at an exciting time.
This is one of two new senior hires helping to shape a modern, fit-for-purpose risk function from the ground up, alongside a third role focused on supporting delivery and analysis.
Your expertise will help us stay ahead of emerging threats and regulatory changes while embedding resilience and agility into our business model.
What you'll be doing :
Provide subject matter expertise and oversight of specialist risk areas, reflecting NZ risk priorities and regulatory expectations.
Develop and maintain specialist risk policies, standards, and methodologies tailored for NZ insurance and financial services.
Lead business continuity planning and crisis management aligned with NZ standards and industry best practices.
Lead stress testing and scenario analysis to assess organisational resilience against emerging NZ and global risks.
Develop and embed strategic and emerging risk frameworks into risk management and business planning cycles.
Monitor NZ and international external risk environments, advising on emerging risks and regulatory developments.
Partner with the wider risk team to support monitoring, oversight, and assurance activities.
What you'll bring with you :
7-10 years' experience in specialist risk management, business continuity, or operational resilience within New Zealand's insurance or financial services sector.
Knowledge of NZ business continuity standards (e.g., NZS 3910) and relevant regulatory expectations.
Experience in strategic and emerging risk management tailored to NZ's regulatory and market environment.
Ability to develop and implement effective policies and frameworks consistent with NZ insurance regulation.
Strong analytical and communication skills, with a collaborative leadership style.
Exhibits self-leadership, upholds company values, and applies adaptive leadership to drive results in a dynamic insurance environment
Experience liaising with NZ regulators and adapting to changes in the local risk landscape.
Tertiary qualified in a relevant NZ risk or compliance.
