What you'll be doing as a chef
Overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficient and effective workflows estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
Developing and refining our menu to showcase seasonal ingredients and innovative culinary techniques
Maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen
Mentoring and training kitchen staff to uphold our culinary excellence
Collaborating with the management team to plan and execute the effective service
Staying up to date with industry trends and implementing new ideas to enhance the dining experience & demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
What you'll be doing as a cook
examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
preparing and cooking food
seasoning food during cooking
portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
storing food in temperature-controlled facilities
preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
may plan menus and estimate food requirements
may train other kitchen staff and apprentices
What we're looking for
Two to three years of relevant work experience OR a relevant qualification at NZQF Diploma for a Chef and NZQF Level 2 or 3 for a Cook
Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
Adaptable and creative mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Must have flexibility on working weekends, days / hours to cover leave and peak trade periods as per the roster as the store is open
