Hutchwilco Group, service partner for Viking in New Zealand, is currently looking for a qualified, skilled and dedicated lead VIKING service technician performing service on Life Saving Appliances.
This role is based in Wellington New Zealand.Hutchwilco Group is New Zealand's leading Maritime Safety Company, servicing the commercial and recreational industry in New Zealand for over 100 years.
This is a key role in the business with a focus on co-ordinating servicing in conjunction with the existing qualified servicing technicians.This role demands technical proficiency, adaptability, and a service "first" approach.Key Responsibilities : Oversee the routine and emergency servicing, repair, and testing of life rafts, life jackets, MES and other related safety equipment.Ensure all life rafts and related equipment are certified and meet safety standards.Ensure documentation for compliance with Maritime NZ and ManufacturerHandle customer inquiries and ensure that service needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.Ensure that all life raft servicing requests are completed according to client expectations and industry regulations.Manage spare parts, tools, and other materials required for servicing life rafts.Train new technicians on life raft servicing procedures and safety protocols.Conduct regular safety drills and keep the team informed of new procedures, products, or regulations.Provide technical support and troubleshooting to ensure swift resolution of problems.Skills & Qualifications : Technical Knowledge : In-depth knowledge of life raft design, operations, and servicing.
Familiarity with maritime safety equipment and relevant regulations.Leadership : Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in managing technical teams.Certifications : Specific certifications related to maritime safety equipment.Problem-Solving Skills : Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving abilities.Attention to Detail : The role demands a high degree of precision, given the critical nature of life-saving equipment.Communication : Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, regulators, and team members.
