We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly skilled assistant head of learning support to work collaboratively with the head of learning support in developing and delivering our comprehensive support services.This is a key supporting leadership role that focuses on the daily operational planning, implementation, and coordination of services for students with diverse learning, behaviour, and neurodiverse needs.
The successful applicant must have a proven ability to model and support effective, inclusive, and equitable educational practices in mainstream settings.This position involves assisting the head of learning support in the day-to-day management and coordination of the department including teacher aides and specialist staff alongside supporting implementation and monitoring of the strategic plan for learning support.Key responsibilities include : Co-deliver professional development to teaching staff and teacher aides.Ensure that classes with supported learning students are meeting the requirements of the diverse learners in them.Work directly with classroom teachers to plan and implement curriculum adaptations and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.Lead specific targeted intervention programmes for students on the Learning Support Register.Lead the development and monitoring of high-quality Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs), Wellbeing Plans (WBPs) and other relevant support plans.Assist the Head of Learning Support in fostering strong relationships with external agencies.16 hours of teaching.Applicants must be able to demonstrate significant knowledge and practical experience of the New Zealand Curriculum and its application to support diverse learners in mainstream settings and have proven experience as an effective teacher and leader of learning with experience in coordinating support for diverse learners.
