- Identify learning support needs early and coordinate timely, effective responses.
- Support individual students or small groups requiring targeted interventions.
- Ensure accurate records and plans (including ILPs) are maintained and used to guide learning.
- Oversee smooth transitions into school, between year levels, and into secondary pathways.
Building teacher capability
Provide evidence-based strategies, tools, and guidance to kaiako / teachers.Model and promote collaborative, inclusive practice across the school.Support professional learning for teachers, TAs, SENCOs and other staff.Assist with effective use of learning support resources.Whānau and community partnership
Strengthen parent and whānau engagement in learning support processes.Ensure student and whānau voice informs decisions and planning.Communicate clearly with families and support teachers to work confidently with whānau.Lead engagement around complex or sensitive learning support matters.Work with other LSCs, the Ministry Service Manager, and external providers to access services and coordinate support.Participate in networks / communities of practice to share information, resources, and good practice.Contribute information for research and evaluation of LSC practice.Leadership and reporting
Provide regular updates to the school leadership team on student needs, trends, and priorities.Advise leaders on capability development and resource allocation.Raise issues requiring leadership attention and influence school-wide systems that support early intervention and equitable outcomes.How to apply
