About the Role
As our Credit Control Team Leader, you\'ll be responsible for leading a team of five, reporting directly to the Pacific Credit Manager. You will provide essential guidance and support to your team, focusing on optimising collections processes and protecting company assets. Your leadership will play a key role in minimising debt exposure while also nurturing strong commercial relationships.
What You Will Do
Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management to a high-performing Credit Control teamAct as the escalation point for complex or high-value customer and account issuesMaintain strong working relationships with key customers, regional managers, branches, and internal stakeholdersAttend regional meetings and visit customers when needed to resolve payment or service issuesApprove credit transactions, including write-offs, write-backs, and journals in line with policyMonitor overdue accounts, negotiate payment arrangements, and manage external debt recovery partnersAnalyse reports to track collection performance, reduce bad debt, and support continuous improvementEnsure timely and accurate reconciliation of customer accounts and monthly reportingDesign and implement effective processes and systems to improve collections within trading termsManage accounts under external administration to minimise financial exposure and riskSupport internal and external audits through accurate reporting and documentationCoordinate legal action for delinquent accounts where requiredPartner with clients to understand their payment processes and offer tailored solutionsWork closely with Sales, Operations, and Business Managers to ensure proper account setup and accurate invoicing for key contractsEssential Experience & Skills
3+ years of experience in credit / collections with team leadership responsibilityProven ability to coach, engage, and develop team membersStrong interpersonal and communication skillsA solution-oriented, pragmatic, and empathetic leadership styleHigh emotional intelligence and the ability to lead through challengesStrong proficiency in Excel and experience using credit control systemsDemonstrated ability to problem-solve complex financial and debt issuesCommitment to meeting deadlines and the ability to prioritiseDesirable Qualifications
Diploma or Certificate in Financial Services, Credit, or AccountingExperience working in a B2B environmentPrevious experience in similar industriesApplicants currently must have the right to live and work permanently in New Zealand.
