We are looking for a calm, reflective, and passionate kaiako to join our Montessori-inspired team at Nurture & Grow Early Learning Centre. This role offers the opportunity to bring your teaching skills to a centre that values respect, collaboration, and the mana of every child.

Our Montessori approach encourages tamariki to follow their natural curiosity, develop independence, and explore the world through hands-on, meaningful experiences. We believe in slowing down, observing, and guiding rather than directing — allowing each child’s learning journey to unfold in their own time.

About the role

This is a part-time position of approximately 25–30 hours per week, with family-friendly hours that support a positive work–life balance. To be successful in this role, you’ll have a deep respect for tamariki as capable and competent learners and a desire to create peaceful, purposeful spaces. You’ll work alongside our experienced team to prepare environments that inspire exploration and discovery while nurturing a strong sense of belonging and whanaungatanga.

The ideal Kaiako will have :

• Experience working with tamariki in an early childhood setting
• An NZQA-recognised ECE qualification and current teacher registration
• A strong understanding of Te Whāriki and how it aligns with the Montessori philosophy
• The ability to prepare thoughtful provocations that invite curiosity and independence
• A calm, respectful approach that supports child-led learning
• A commitment to reflective practice, professional growth, and teamwork
• Skill in observing children’s learning journeys holistically
• A compassionate nature, valuing relationships and fostering peace and kindness
