Overview
In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the gardens, green spaces, and sports grounds of the school.
The head Groundsperson will suit someone who is comfortable directing one other in all aspects of general garden maintenance and horticulture, with a passion and strength in turf maintenance and sports ground management.
This opportunity provides autonomy with structured support from the broader Ventia team.

The Role
The Role
— As Head Groundsperson, you will lead our on-site team to deliver the work, while acting as a key point of contact for the Operations Manager from Ventia and the client representatives who are based on site at the school.
Your duties will include but are not limited to :
Day to day task planning in collaboration with your Operations Manager
Preparing enhancement proposals that deliver improvements to the College grounds
Managing site safety, productivity and quality
Managing compliance with systems and procedures
Delivering the physical work as part of the team
Overseeing the seasonal tasks completed by specialist teams
Fostering a positive team culture that promotes respect, professionalism, and excellence
Training and developing your team
Preparing for events and holiday programmes
Reporting to management and clients
Managing machinery and equipment with support from your operations manager
About You
If you have a passion for sports turf and take satisfaction in delivering a high quality site, this role will suit you.
Ideally you will have qualifications in Turf Management and / or Horticulture.
Previous experience with high-profile customers / sites
Experience managing a team of people as well as subcontractors or temporary resources
Comfortable working client facing
Experience using software systems or apps to record operational tasks
Experience with various types of machinery and equipment – mowers, vehicles, small plant
