We are looking for a Retail Team Leader to join our Hutt City Family Store in a co-leadership role, working alongside another experienced Team Leader.
Together, you'll share responsibility for leading a dynamic team, delivering excellent customer and donor experiences, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.About the Family StoresThe Salvation Army operates over 125 Family Stores nationwide, selling quality donated goods including clothing, furniture, linen, and homeware.
No two days are the same – our stores are vibrant, fast-paced, and deeply connected to the communities we serve.About the RoleThis co-leadership position is key to the success of our store.
You'll work collaboratively with your fellow Team Leader to : Lead and support staff and volunteers, fostering a positive, inclusive team culture that provides our customers and donors alike with a great experience.Share responsibility for daily operations, including donation processing, pricing, merchandising, and customer service, ensuring national operational standards are met.Provide coaching and training opportunities to build team capabilityMaintain a safe, welcoming environment for customers, donors, and team membersSupport strategic initiatives in partnership with the Area ManagerManage business, financial, and administrative tasks accurately and efficientlyWhat We're Looking ForA collaborative leadership style with strong communication and interpersonal skillsProven experience in leading and line managing teams (ideally 3 years+)Retail experience is desirable, but not essentialConfidence in using retail technology (POS systems, tablets, etc.)An ability to learn, adapt and apply sound judgmentPhysically fit and comfortable with regular liftingA commitment to quality, integrity, and The Salvation Army's missionLevel 3 Retail Certificate or willingness to achieve it would be an advantageEligibility to work in New Zealand and able to pass a Ministry of Justice clearanceWhat We OfferAn additional week of Salvation Army leave annuallyFree confidential counselling servicesSubsidised flu vaccinationsDiscounted Southern Cross medical insuranceTSA discount card for retailers like Noel Leeming, Placemakers, Torpedo7Opportunities for growth and developmentA fun, supportive team environmentThe chance to make a meaningful impact in your communityThe starting hourly rate for this role is $
