About the role : As the Maritime Operations Delivery Manager, you'll report to the Group Manager - Maritime Operations and play a pivotal role in shaping how our fleet operates - not through technical oversight, but by supporting a culture of professionalism, accountability and pride across our maritime crew.
You will be a passionate maritime professional who is excited by the opportunity of upholding SeaLink as an exemplar of industry best practice in New Zealand.
Regularly working on vessels as an operational crew member, you'll foster collaboration, encourage open dialogue, and role-model behaviours that ensure safety, reliability, and customer trust remain at the heart of everything we do.
You'll be a visible and hands-on leader, with the ability to build strong relationships with our crew, colleagues and external stakeholders.
Key accountabilities
Have responsibility for the management of the entire fleet of vessels (passenger and car ferries) as it relates to day-to-day operations.
Take the lead in addressing challenges, guiding teams calmly and effectively through incidents, service disruptions or unexpected issues
Support and coach crew in their development, ensuring performance standards are consistent, credible and fair.
Communicate with required key customers including AT
Maintain active working relationships with key stakeholders such as the Harbourmaster's office and MNZ
Requirements
Strong, proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire, coach and influence people at all levels
A tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience
5 years experience in the maritime industry
A collaborative mindset, with a natural ability to build relationships and foster teamwork
Excellent communication skills, able to engage confidently with crew, colleagues, and external stakeholders
Proven ability to manage change and drive continuous improvements in a constructive way
A genuine commitment to health, safety and creating a positive workplace culture
The ability and willingness to travel to various sites
