The Opportunity :
We have an exciting opportunity for an Audit Technical Specialist to join our Group Risk and Technical team. This is a challenging and rewarding role in which you will provide technical specialist support and advice to our engagement teams across Australia and New Zealand.
This is an excellent role for a self-starter to make an impact on the Group, whilst working with like-minded professionals in a highly collaborative and caring team environment. You will have the ability to influence and shape our audit quality and risk programs as you continue to develop your technical and risk management skills.
More about the role :
- A focus on authoring and facilitating learning programs for our audit professionals. This includes annual facilitation of face-to-face partner and manager training in each office.
- Influencing, leading or participating in programs of work to improve audit quality, including enhancing our audit methodology and developing tools and templates to assist auditors in performing their engagements.
- Supporting the Group’s readiness for new professional standards, including authoring policy changes and preparing communications to raise awareness of the changes
- Responding to consultations from practitioners in relation to the application of the audit methodology or general risk related matters across our Australian and New Zealand practices
- Maintaining engagement letter, auditor’s report and other templates
- Managing annual CaseWare audit methodology and documentation tool update
- Technical review of audit reports, including modifications, emphasis of matters and key audit matters
- Supporting our monitoring programs
About you :
You are a person who demonstrates the following characteristics :Detailed knowledge of International Auditing Standards, applied in an Australian and / or New Zealand context.Technical bent, and well-developed capability to research standards, interpret and apply auditing and other professional standards and regulatory requirements in response to technical mattersA passion for sharing knowledge and educating others, including excellent facilitation skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proven capability to deal with stakeholders virtually or in person, to build their trust and confidenceExceptional attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to see the big picture and understand the commercial aspects of discussion pointsStrong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks independently, whilst being a team player.Requirements :
CA or CPA qualified7+ years of audit experience. Experience in a national quality and risk team would be highly valued.You will have detailed knowledge of International Auditing Standards, applied in an Australian and / or New Zealand context.You may currently be an auditor looking to join a national risk and technical support team or already be part of such a team and wanting to gain broader exposure, with the opportunity to have a real impact on audit quality.This position is based at one of William Buck’s office locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Auckland. We offer flexible work options including hybrid work.
