We also provide national andinternational testing services in selected specialties.We're seeking a Scientific Officer with provenexperience in mass spectrometry, ideally with a background in biochemistry,toxicology, or analytical chemistry.
This is a senior-level role suited tosomeone who can hit the ground running and contribute to high-impact projectsacross our specialist services.Located opposite Hagley Park South, CHL offers adynamic and collaborative environment with a diverse caseload and opportunitiesto lead innovation in laboratory science.Key ResponsibilitiesScientific and Technical LeadershipOperate,maintain, and troubleshootmass spectrometry platforms(e.g.,LC-MS / MS, GC-MS).
Designand validate analytical methods for clinical applications.Collaboratewith the Section Head and Chemical Pathologists to develop and deliverstrategic goals.Mentorjunior staff and contribute to training programmes.Quality and ComplianceEnsureall work aligns withISO 15189standards.Participatein internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.Maintainaccurate documentation and uphold data integrity.Professional DevelopmentStaycurrent with developments in mass spectrometry and related fields.Engagein CPD and contribute to publications or funding proposals.Fostera culture of curiosity, learning, and scientific excellence.Supportimproved health outcomes for Maori through culturally responsive practice.Honourand respect tikanga and te ao Maori in your work.ChampionMaori recruitment, retention, and leadership pathways.About youWe're looking for someone who brings : APhDor Master's degreein a relevant scientific discipline.Demonstratedexperience inmass spectrometryand laboratory operations.Familiaritywithquality systemsand regulatory compliance.Stronganalytical, organisational, and communication skills.Acollaborative mindset and commitment to equity and excellence.Registeredwith the Medical Sciences Council ideally as a Scientist (or if Technician youwill need to work towards MLS qualification).
