This role is for a Principal Contaminated Land Specialist to join our environmental science team, based in Wellington or Christchurch.This opportunity seeks someone with extensive experience in contaminated land, a keen eye for technical detail, and a passion for training others.
The ideal candidate will also be competent in developing bids, tenders and contracts within a consultancy setting.ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership in contaminated land projects, including planning, execution and technical review.Design and implement robust field programs and reporting for soil, groundwater, surface water and ground gas (including PFAS).
Develop and review technical documents, ensuring alignment with NESCS and regional requirements.Mentor and train junior staff, promoting ongoing upskilling and knowledge transfer.Engage with clients and internal teams to manage expectations and deliver successful outcomes.Contribute to bids, tenders and contracts within a consultancy environment.QualificationsRelevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Sciences or Geology.Minimum of 15–20 years' experience in environmental consulting, with at least 15 years in Contaminated Land.Experience in designing and implementing field programs and in reporting; strong capability in soil, groundwater, surface water, and ground gas assessment; familiarity with PFAS; strong technical reviewer with knowledge of NESCS and regional requirements.Patient and clear task setter; actively engaged in training and upskilling junior staff.Strong client and project management skills; confident and articulate communication with clients and wider WSP teams.Current CEnvP – SC or working towards certification required.Join our community of talented professionals who are committed to making a positive impact.
