Ecological Restoration Team Member – Wildland Consultants Ltd – Christchurch

Fixed-term position for 6 months

Wildlands are looking for Ecological Restoration team members who can at the end of September / early October commit to a minimum period of 6 months’ work in Christchurch. The role is to work in small field teams to control pest plants, planting, and pest animal control.

It is essential that you have a willingness to contribute and work in a team, are hardworking, physically fit, and have a passion for working outdoors in all sorts of weather. The work involves the use of agri-chemicals (herbicides), animal toxins (poisons), and traps on a regular basis. Some work may involve staying away in remote areas in basic accommodation.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• A genuine interest in working in the outdoors and achieving restoration goals.
• Knowledge and experience of pest plant control, and pest animal monitoring and control, and indigenous planting.
• A positive, can-do attitude.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good decision making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• A good work ethic, efficient and H&S conscious.
• GPS use and other hand-held devices (e.g., phone, camera).
• A good level of fitness, preferably with outdoor skills (tramping, hunting, etc).
• Full NZ drivers’ licence (manual preferred).

Preferred applicants will hold CURRENT relevant qualifications and experience. These include Growsafe (Standard or Registered Chemical Applicator) and First Aid.
